Alan Doyle has been singing for as long as he can remember. School Choirs, lead parts in school operettas, harmonizing with his Dad at home etc. etc. He took up the accordion at the age of nine and soloed several times on RTE, the Irish National television station at the age of thirteen. Having reached his teens, he decided that the guitar was the way forward and taught himself the chords he needed to be able to accompany himself singing all the usual classics like Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Donovan and all the tracks that most budding guitarists cut their musical teeth on.

During the early seventies he ventured into the realms of Rock. Living in Dublin then, he was lucky enough to be able to associate and play with some of the great players of the time. Gary Moore, Phil Lynnott, Rory Gallagher, Eric Bell and Bono, to name but a few.

Through the seventies and early eighties he played the clubs and the cabaret circuit with several bands. Bagnall Harvey, Keltic Wine, The Cool Breeze Band, Hamilton Band, City Limits and Kelly's Hero's, with whom he toured the States in 1977. It was Kelly's Heroes that brought him back to his Irish roots and the accordion was even dusted off and introduced into the act.

In 1988 he moved to Clevedon, near Bristol and in 89' formed a rock band with some well known local musicians and played most of the local venues with them for the following twenty years. During that time, he also became involved and played lead guitar with a group of musicians who wrote and performed a "Rock Communion” in churches and cathedrals (Wells was a particularly memorable one) all over the country. Being an old friend and a big fan of Mary Black the well known Irish singer, he met her Musical Director and Guitarist, Declan Synott who he hadn't seen for years. As a result of this meeting and listening to more and more of Mary's music, his interest in Irish music in general was rekindled.

In 2008, he was asked to start a guitar class at the Hibernia Centre Bristol in Avonmouth, (www.hiberniacentrebristol.org ) an organization that teaches and promotes Irish music. Classes include, Fiddle, Whistle and Flute, Banjo, Bodhrán, a mixed instrument group and, of course, Guitar and Singing.

It was at The Hibernia Centre that Alan was lucky enough to meet David Garner the amazing, award winning fiddle player. Alan and David gig regularly now and always prove to be a hard act to follow. As Alan says, "with David's talent coupled my good looks and Blarney” how could it be anything other than enchanting.
